Kelly Joy Hoare (born
July 1,
1963),
Australian politician, has been an
Australian Labor Party member of the
Australian House of Representatives since
1998, representing the
Division of Charlton,
New South Wales. She has lost Labor preselection for the
2007 election. She was born in
Deniliquin, New South Wales, the daughter of
Bob Brown, who represented the
Division of Hunter from
1980 to
1984 and Charlton from 1984 to 1998. Hoare was educated at the
University of Canberra, and was a public servant and her father's electorate officer before entering Federal Parliament.
On May 4 2007,
Greg Combet announced that he'd run for preselection in Charlton. He was installed over the top of the ALP branch members by the National Executive. Hoare said that she was the "sole bread winner" in her family and that she'd have to sell her house if she lost the salary of an MP. On

News Ltd newspaper,
The Sunday Telegraph, reported that Hoare had been the subject of a sexual harassment complaint from a Comcar driver. It was alleged that on
April 10, Hoare propositioned the driver for sex .
Hoare released a short statement saying that she regretted the 'improper approach' and was undertaking counselling.
